Prov. Municipal Courts to Cease Hearings Due to Spread of Coronavirus Until Further Notice

Chief Judge Frank Caprio announced Sunday that the Providence Municipal Courts will cease all arraignments and hearings until further notice.

“If you have a trial date to appear before the Municipal Court during the closure, you will receive a new summons in the coming days,” said the court in the announcement.

The court closed last spring due to the virus. RI recorded more than 900 new cases on Tuesday and Wedensday last week.

“If you have a fine to pay you can do so online, or in person Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM until 2:30 PM at the Public Safety Complex, located at 325 Washington Street, Providence, RI. Once again, this only affects already scheduled arraignments and hearings,” the court said
